Home-Like Atmosphere
Person-Centered Care - Back to top
Village
Manor takes pride that it is a Person-Centered Care facility. This concept is based on focusing on each resident and getting to actually know whom the person is. Families may be interviewed to find out the person’s hobbies, family history, career, likes, and dislikes. This initiates better interpersonal relationships between residents and caregivers. Also, residents are involved emotionally and mentally in their own care. They are also encouraged to join the resident council which meets monthly and is vital in planning, requesting, and carrying out new ideas they want to implement in their “home.”
Eden Alternative™ - Back to top
Village Manor is an Eden Alternative™ facility. This philosophy combines the interaction with children, live plants, pets, music, art, and exercise to create a more home-like atmosphere for residents. With this concept, the social and physical environment at Village Manor is dynamic. This caring setting helps with the transition from residents’ homes to Village Manor.
Animals bring another aspect to Village Manor. A.J., the dog, is a gentle loving animal that cannot get enough attention and enjoys being near people. Miss Kitty, the cat, is affectionate and enjoys the company of residents. Beautiful, brightly colored fish can be seen in the large freshwater aquarium. This serene yet entertaining marine wonderland is located in the activities area where residents can enjoy the fish frequently.
Home Cooking - Back to top
Residents enjoy a variety of delicious and nutritious foods. A continental breakfast is served from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. each morning, and a hot breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. This allows residents to get up at the time they want—early or late. Village Manor features the AM Café which is a breakfast buffet held once a month. Family and friends are invited.
Lunch features menu choices. The evening dinner often features soups and sandwiches in addition to the regular meal. Snacks are offered throughout the day on a convenient snack cart. A Registered Dietitian and a Dietary Manager are available to ensure that the nutritional requirements of residents are met.

Message from Department Manager
Hi, I am Joy Butler, the Activities Director for Village Manor. My work centers around the wants and needs of each resident. With the help of the assistant activities director and our volunteers, we are able to keep each resident active and stimulated through group participation or individual "simple pleasures."
